42. 2014 season review (The one with the Box of Neutrals crossover)
It’s been a long time coming, but apart from covering the final throws of F1 news for the year, the third round of the Formula E and giving the SuperQuiz one final crack for 2014, we can finally unveil the cross-over that our audience has been demanding for so long.
Throughout history there have been numerous meetings of the minds, two brilliant entities coming together to advance the cause of humanity; Socrates and Aristotle, Albert Einstein and Mileva Maric… Larry Emdur and David Koch.
For the first time Superlicense and Box of Neutrals have joined forces, and the result is truly epic. For over two hours the trials of tribulations of the 2014 F1 season are hashed out, with many pointless divergencies and indefensible examples of slander. We thought it was a fantastic way to finish off the year, there’s certainly plenty of content here to tide you over for a while and there’ll be plenty more to come in 2015 so that’s about all we have to say about that.
We want to say a massive thanks to the following people for their assistance and support throughout the year:
- Paul Crowder, director of 1: Life on the limit
- Nathan Harper, head mogul at Beer Mogul games and creator of Formula Legend
- Kate Walker
- Trent Price
- Janice Rochford for having us on the E-lectric Formula E Podcast
- Michael, Rob and Peter from Box of Neutrals for their support throughout the year and taking part in this week’s epic podcast cross-over
And last but not least YOU THE LISTENERS!

35. Italian GP (Monza is a Flat Circle)
M-M-M-M-Monza! I’m pretty sure if there’s one place in the entire world that a pretty lady could get away with actual murder it’s the Italian GP. Rod and Zach discuss the race, breakdown all the news that fit to print, Zach excels in the “Were They Teammates?” SuperQuiz and we reference far too many non-F1 things to mention here.
Show notes:
- Great work from Lewis Hamilton to recover from this horrendous start
- One of Ricciardo’s best moves of the race was this one on Sergio Perez
- Even Hamilton doesn’t like the podium boo-ing, so can we all just agree not to do it?
- A report on how/why/who? the FIA are going to limit team radio

28. Canada GP (Don’t Kimi it, Kvyat it)
Canada eh? Just kidding, we were ecstatic that Daniel Ricciardo took his maiden race victory in Montreal this weekend. It might not sound like it because we were pretty zapped, but I can assure you our hearts were lifted. You can tell from the response of the crowd that it was a popular victory, even the old grinch Vettel was full of praise for smiley Dan so we felt really lucky to have witnessed it. Being able to share the experience with the fans on our first ever live stream was a big bonus (I think we’ll do it again, we’ll work out something around the ads, sorry again folks!).
Show notes:
- First thing is first… Perfect Strangers, ammirite?
- Massa v Perez v Wall. Wall wins. Who was to blame? Here’s Massa’s view, Perez’s view, an overhead view and Vettel’s view. I can’t see how Perez did anything wrong. Apparently Massa is calling for a harsher penalty against Perez, I reckon if Perez can appeal the decision he probably should.
- The Audi ad (that doesn’t feature Mark Webber :/) for Le Mans.
- If you missed the live stream and want to check it out the whole damned thing is here… it’s warts and all including us sitting around waiting to start things, but you can’t complain about lack of content this week.
- Here’s the gif Roarzz made of Zach’s hand gestures. Boobs, really? Why Zach?

15. Japanese GP (Altitude Level: Nigel Mansel)
Holy smokes. Following some critical technical failures Rod and Zach struggle through to recap the Japanese Grand Prix, we find out if Zach can tell the difference between a Japanese F1 Driver or a delicious Japanese delicacy, Zach waxes zen-like with a Haikuiz and we unveil the secret behind Sebastian Vettel’s recent speed.
Show notes:
- Hamilton’s “best start ever”
- Rosberg’s unsafe release
- Ricciardo (left) overtaking off the track
- Vettel nearly falling off his car
- Webber glad to not be on fire

5. Canada 2013 (The worst X-Men podcast around)
(There’s a short drop-in at the start of this episode, we finished recording before the news of the fatal incident involving a Grand Prix steward was announced.)
Join our discussion of the Canadian Grand Prix, indulge your adventurous side with a Canadian flavoured quiz, we preview the Silverstone race and outline the correct champagne celebration technique (Spray, Drink, Drop).
Show notes:
Webber’s amazing run mid-2010
Where have all the Edgar Allen Poe look-a-likes gone?
